TITLE: Women’s Inclusive Mentoring Framework: Promoting Strong Women Leaders in Mental Health Professions
DESCRIPTION: To address challenges faced by women in academia and underrepresentation of women in leadership, drawing on recommendations from the literature, the presenter developed the Women’s Inclusive Mentoring Framework (WIMF). Guided by a relational-cultural approach, the WIMF incorporates quality mentors and mentor-mentee matches, vision and plan development, and focused mentoring interventions. Attendees will examine challenges and considerations in mentoring women in mental health training programs, explore the benefits of mentorship for leadership development and advancement of mental health professions, and learn strategies to apply the four foundational components of the WIMF. Application of the WIMF in other settings and relationships will also be discussed, including professional associations, training programs, workplaces, and clinical and work supervisory relationships.
