Honors & RecognitionEach year, ACCA recognizes outstanding members and colleagues for their contributions to college counseling, professional leadership, service, research, advocacy, and inclusion. Recognition Awards are presented at the ACCA Annual Conference. 2027 Awards NominationsHelp ACCA recognize the individuals making a difference in college counseling. Members are encouraged to nominate deserving colleagues — or themselves — for an ACCA Recognition Award. Award nominations will go live in Fall 2026, with recipients recognized at the 2027 ACCA Annual Conference in Houston, Texas. ACCA Recognition AwardsLearn more about each ACCA award below. Professional LeadershipDemonstrated leadership in some aspect of college counseling as it relates to the purposes and goals of ACCA, or leadership and contributions to ACCA as a professional organization. View Past Recipients →Meritorious ServiceDemonstrated service to the profession of college counseling and/or to ACCA. This award is offered in three categories:
Outstanding Professional Contribution to KnowledgeDemonstrated contribution to the advancement of college counseling theory and/or practice by means of a dissertation/thesis, publication, or scholarly presentation. View Past Recipients →Graduate Student Meritorious ServiceDemonstrated evidence of meritorious service to the profession of college counseling and/or ACCA. View Past Recipients →Director of the YearThe Director of the Year Award honors a College Counseling Center Director who has made a significant impact on the national, state, or local level. View Past Recipients →Counselor of the YearThe Counselor of the Year Award honors a College Counselor who has made a significant impact on the national, state, or local level. View Past Recipients →Advocacy for College CounselingDemonstrated advocacy of college counseling services or an organization which has made a significant contribution to the improvement of college counseling services. This award may honor a college president, vice president, dean, board member, or legislator who has made a significant impact on the national, state, or local level. The recipient need not be a member of ACCA. View Past Recipients →Research AwardDemonstrated evidence of scholarly work, including publication of relevant college counseling peer-reviewed articles or presentation of papers that advance the profession of college counseling. Research should contribute to the improvement of college counseling services for practicing professional counselors in university or college settings. View Past Recipients →Meritorious Award for Diversity & InclusionGiven to a member of the Association who has demonstrated a sustained commitment to advance the values of diversity, equality, social justice, and inclusion in the profession of college counseling. This commitment may be evident through recruitment and retention efforts, teaching, research, student or faculty programming, student support, community outreach and development activities, or other professional development initiatives. Award EligibilityAward recipients for all awards, except Advocacy for College Counseling, must be current members of ACCA.
