ACCA’s Supervision and Clinical Training Committee would like to invite you to the Advocating for Yourself in College Counseling Workshop.  In this session, we will articulate the internal and external barriers that hold college counselors back from achieving our goals within institutions of higher education and in the field of college counseling, such as low self-confidence, inadequate an inequitable pay, lack of opportunities for advancement, and systems of oppression. We will additionally explore strategies to address these barriers, including strategies to build confidence, strengthen support networks, and self-advocate. There will be an open discussion in the second half of this session.

What you can expect:

Dr. Stephanie Maccombs-Hunter, will provide information on her research to advocate for herself in her own counseling center and institution.  She will review the information above for the first half of the session and open it up for discussion and questions for the second half.  This session will be very discussion based if you have some of your own thoughts and ideas that you would like to share about your own journey in college counseling.

This session does not include CE’s
