Advocacy for College Counseling
An ACCA Priority !
Advocating for counselors in higher education settings is an important function for ACCA. The Association works diligently to raise awareness among the general public, students, parents, and administrators of the value of counseling services on college campuses. ACCA also promotes enhanced professionalism for college counselors, including state and national certification/ licensure, continuing education opportunities, and ethical practices.
The ACCA Professional Advocacy and Public Awareness Committee announces the publication of the revised College Counseling Advocacy Booklet Developed specifically for ACCA members, the College Counseling Advocacy Booklet is a valuable tool for promoting college counseling services among students, parents, administrators, campus personnel, and the general public. The booklet covers diverse topics, including: college counselor credentials and training, frequently presented concerns among college students referred to the counseling center, facts and myths about the counseling process, confidentiality and its limits, multiculturalism on campus, and marketing of counseling services.
